The cost of solar has been steadily declining. When it gets to a buck/watt a typical household system costs about as much as a heatpump.

adding in all the required safety precautions would put them even further beyond economic reality.

Total non sense...in any case the goal is to create a distributed power model...a grid tied mini generating system on every roof...like I said, at $1/W the cost of a 5Kw system is in the range of a household appliance like a heatpump.
