Cool. Not sure I could do it in a desert area, but the idea is attractive. Mid California coast has better weather and there are areas with very few people.

Something I've noticed on the home plan sites is a growing number of very small house designs. You might be interested in some of these (there are many other sites, so do a search if it interests you). Some places call them Micro Cottages.
