Rose seems to forget that Duke, compared to most other schools, has extremely high academic standards. Duke first and foremost is a university that strives for academic excellence, not a training ground where you take one semester of joke courses to stay eligible, blow off second semester, and turn pro. Which of course is why Coach K never recruited many of the inner city kids whose lives focused on playing basketball rather than doing schoolwork. Same would have been true for rich white kids with poor grades and test scores. - Jeff
