The Washington Post does its part to save the planet by recycling material from other newspapers By Jim Treacher \| Published: 7:20 PM 03/16/2011 \| Updated: 9:53 PM 03/16/2011 ) This “Editor’s Note” just went up at WaPo: Two articles published by The Post online and in its print editions earlier this month contained substantial material that was borrowed and duplicated, without attribution, from The Arizona Republic newspaper. The articles described an indictment of Jared Lee Loughner for murder and attempted murder in the January rampage that wounded Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and the subsequent unsealing of court records supporting a search warrant in connection with the case. “Borrowed.” One of the articles had 15 paragraphs, 10 of which were copied from the Republic. The WaPo reporter isn’t identified, but the “author” of both pieces is Sari Horwitz. She’s been there for over 25 years and has won several Pulitzers. Who knew there was a Pulitzer Prize for Cut and Paste? P.S. Three-month suspension. Hey, she only stole other people’s work. It’s not like she tweeted some bad jokes about Japan.
