At Least a Dozen Specific, Credible Death Threats Against WI Republicans

March 18, 2011
verumserum.com

I don’t think I’d seen this detail published before. Scripps Howard has a story on the reaction to the passage of the collective bargaining bill in Wisconsin which makes clear just how enraged the protesters became:

“We will hunt you down. We will slit your throats. We will drink your blood. I will have your decapitated head on a pike in the Madison town square. This is your last warning.”

Is this a passage from Bram Stoker’s Dracula? No, this e-mail reached Wisconsin State Sen. Dan Kapanke, a La Crosse Republican, on March 9, after he voted for GOP Gov. Scott Walker’s controversial budget and labor reforms. Kapanke is not alone. Top Wisconsin Republicans have been threatened with murder.

“Across the whole Republican Caucus, I think we have received at least a dozen, credible, specific death threats,” one well-placed legislative staffer in Madison told me. “This was not just ‘Go to Hell,’ but threats that rose to a level that made people feel unsafe.”

Did we see these sort of threats against lawmakers from the Tea Party? Maybe there were some I missed. What’s clear is that the media decided last week that the Wisconsin protests were “peaceful” and hasn’t budged on that since.

I apologize for not following that interesting banter back and forth. As usual most of these guys think a little different, the anger is undeniable and they put us in some other camp of being traitors to the 'cause'. Why these people don't seize on the opportunities for themselves and their families future in the great recession rather than harp on DC and WS and the gold casino and hoping the stock market crashes and the Case-Shiller index falls further is unbelievable. As much as I wish Obama and co would go after the robber barons, gut the military, increase the retirement age, raise taxes on those at the top and stop further quantitative easing I won't lose sleep after what we've already been through as the country was transformed after 9/11.. Still light years better than R's who would have taken us into the depths of another great depression by now for sure.

So is there a term for all those who hate what is going on but do not consider themselves right wingers, tea partiers or perma bears? And what of those in poverty in the black community who see no special treatment from Obama and yet here of all his socialistic redistribution of wealth policies? Then others like Jim McMannis who say Obama is Bush 2...what is the truth????

Another winger missed the boat glad i didn't listen. Don't worry they gonna 'save' us now and created another housing bubble by the end of a first Romney term repeating the post 9/11 playbook.. Life is good<g>
