The question re the "old ones" is how much they have been modified over the years. I just saw a ditty on TV wailing about battery pack life.

There will be lots of CO2 from hyperventilating over this.

I agree absolutely.

Public won't agree to new ones, but the old ones keep getting operating permits years after they were supposed to be retired from service. I'd rather have a fleet of newer ones than continue to extend the life of old ones through upgrades, add-ons and other kludges.

Nobody (esp. the public?) seems willing to take a long view and plan for it vs. just reacting to situations through patchwork fixes and extensions to the status quo.

Everything would be solved if only we'd all agree to name me Emperor of the World... <ggg>
