For many Americans beheading was unheard of except with the Biblical reference to John the Baptist and the silver platter. Or, in a movie depicting the archaic practice of the dark ages.

What I am now learning is that beheading is simply routine in those countries. Wives can get beheaded for disobeying their husbands etc.

Yes apostates do get beheaded.
