Sometimes the investments made in education are investments made fighting the last war. One must be careful. By way of illustration, team USA is unfolding a new drama, about which the current in place system, including education, isnt prepared to mission. In times of disruption, training to fight the last war is just another mal investment. if i were 20 years old and looking for a promising career in the oil business, i'd go there and spend 5 years apprenticing, learning first hand the tools, manner and methods of a new industry which has not yet discovered its own stride. Future development, always extends from experience. Trusting the educational system to train you is a risky proposition...when disruption about the training needed, is simultaneously being invented, your chances of meeting a market demand are meaningfully low.
