I can't totally agree.

While the two styles are very different, combining them can be very valuable in minimizing risk.

I use screening techniques to identify stocks that I feel are undervalued and therefore have a limited downside (but also have wide enough intraday ranges to be of interest). Then use technicals to determine entry points.

Using stops to limit a loss on a play gone wrong is wise. But value limits the velocity of a fall, if you are wrong.

Thanks for your comments. Can you & other pros keep a score card type of thing in this thread, so amatures/starters like me can learn from real examples, & paper trades will be just great. Reading through all the textbooks haven't help me much, because the pressure of play with hard-earn money is tremendouse, & which also makes shortterm trading exciting. Last week I did pretty well on pctl & sunw, but not enough to cover my rear-end.
