Firefox 4 has a built-in pdf reader. No add-on is necessary. I highly recommend it. Chrome also has a built-in pdf reader.

I have found Acrobat Reader a real PITA - unlike most other apps where you can say "this app loads these extensions" and you can actually turn it off for that app (ie in Winamp SAY "do not play .mp3"), Acrobat Reader doesn't.
