GM used to claim 230 MPG. Now it's 99:

It's a bogus statistic anyway. When most of your juice is coming from a wall socket, Miles Per Gallon no longer has any significance. The key word is "gallon," as in gallon of gas.

Either that, or I can claim that I get 99 MPG on my car just by rolling downhill. We can ignore the energy it took to get the car up the hill in the first place ...
