All criteria which were met in Iraq. There was neither a vital national interest nor any world consensus of a humanitarian disaster there...we've gone through this in spades. What happens if there exists a vital national interest yet the rest of the world doesn't happen to agree with us? We give up the right to protect ourselves? I think I made clear in my post that national defense is a national issue Too bad for them, or what?
