gregor,

I see my last post brought more response than I expected. My purpose was not to offend anyone but to challenge people to think more about what it means to carry out The Great Commission.

®Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."¯ Matthew 28:18-20 (NIV)

In your post #69 you asked me some questions I would have answered by E-mail but chose not to address on this thread because I thought it might cause division instead of building up the community of faith.

When I saw you didn't have an E-mail listed it made me start thinking.
I asked myself the following question:

Are there people reading this thread who would like to know more about how to become a Christian but for one reason or another would not ask that question openly on this thread?

In John Chapter 3, when Nicodemus originally went to Christ it was in secret and at night. Later Nicodemus defended Christ publicly, but not at first. (John 7:50-51). It has been my experience that most people come to Christ through one on one witnessing usually in private.

I believe that most people who would post openly on one of the Christian threads on SI probably are already Christians who are not afraid to stand up for their Lord! The question is: How many like Nicodemus are lurking but too afraid to post? Should we not make it as easy as possible for them to communicate privately with another Christian?

If you were a lurker on one of these threads and wanted to talk privately to someone about how to become a Christian, where would you turn first? I would expect they would E-mail a sponsor of one of the Christian threads or one of the regular posters to the thread they have been lurking on. Wouldn't you?

The challenge I am putting forth is that as many Christians as possible on SI should make themselves avaiable by E-mail to others of the SI community. I realize posting an E-mail address does not come without risk. I also realize that responding to E-mails can be time consuming. However, Christ calls us out of our comfort zone to serve him. In fact, he said "whoever loses his life for my sake will find it."

Also I believe that E-mails lend themselves to special prayer requests in ways that a public thread can never be used.

Feel welcome to contact me anytime you wish by E-mail. And that goes for anyone reading this thread.
