While your point about human rights is valid, I think it's unrealistic to think a democracy or a better dictatorship will ultimately emerge. This is a tribal culture that is unlikely to transform their values in a way the west would like. I believe the people in this region are ready to make changes fundamental changes in their ways of life. That is why these uprisings are occurring all over the area. I understand there is a long-established history, but I do not believe these people (not just Libyans, Iranians, Egyptians, all the rest) are putting their lives at risk for no reason. They want some kind of freedom (although surely not the "American" kind.
