LONDON, (Reuters) - British gas supplier BG Plc is close to signing an oil export deal with Kazakhstan that would include Texaco Inc., the Independent Sunday newspaper reported.

The paper said the company would sign a production-sharing agreement in Washington this week with Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev, Italy's Agip SpA and Texaco.

The pact will enable the three companies to begin developing the two billion barrel Karachaganak field in the north of the country.

BG has been in talks about the field for the past five years and its oil exploration division is looking for 25 percent annual returns, the paper said. This would help counteract price cuts forced on BG's Transco pipeline division in the UK by regulators.

No one was immediately available from the companies to comment.
