Hanson was President of CONGRESS. It was like Speaker of the House today, with additional duties because there was no Executive branch, similar to a Parliamentary Prime Minister. If there was a person titled President of the Outhouse of the Continental Congress in 1776, would you consider that person the first President of the United States? The title "President" is meaningless without context. When we think of the Presidency, we are referring to an Executive Head of State that did not exist under the Articles. We're counting alot of angels on pinheads lately.
