But at the end of the day, I'm still in favor of the core policy. Getting rid of Qaddafi, particularly now that we are committed militarily, is in our national interest. And it's also the right thing to do

Ah, but can anybody tell me if this is the core policy? The UN declaration which Obama seems to be leaning on, says nothing about regime change, only protecting civilians.
