Kenneth,

I agree with your assessment if the world and everything will
freeze right now. The lower the chip prices will be, the more
applications will come out, Digital TV, students each carrying their own lap tops, cafes with internet links, computer fired car,... etc.
We can go on and on with the possible applications of computer
chips. This glut is temporary! Did you notice that dolls/toys can
talk now, giggle, do all kinds of stuff. This is just the beginning.
Pretty soon we will have our own individual robots that will do things for us while we enjoy the of life. Look at your kids and
the young generations. They are not scared of technology, they
thrive in it. These generation will fuel the demand for chips.

If you are looking for the teens for this stock, good
luck. I hope you get it. But all it takes is an announcement
of new products or technology and this whole game of chips glut will disappear quickly.

Roly

Kenneth,
Asian companies may be able to compete someday, but the technology required is still not there. The huge investments required has kept many companies from competing with AMAT and I do not see that changing in the near future.
There are many other companies that compete with AMAT that will be more viable than the Asian companies...

Don't take this personally, but when somebody asks "when is earnings coming out?" at this late date (click on "Earnings" at the top of the thread), others on the thread kind of peg the poster to have a certain level of experience. [g]
