Iraq acted like flypaper drawing jihadis to Iraq to fight Americans there. And a lot of them got killed there. The jihadis who went there got drawn into a Sunni-Shia civil war that made them and their cause look bad to many Muslims.

Another thing that resulted from Iraq was Q'Daffy getting scared into giving up his nuclear weapons program. He let us take his nuclear equipment to Oak Ridge TN for destruction. He did it because when he saw Saddam dragged out of a hole, he got scared it could happen to him.

>> Pray tell, how did iraq prevent further acts of terror against america?

These things don't happen overnight. But long term, when you get rid of dictators in predominantly Muslim countries, you change the dynamic that supports terrorism. That is the entire concept behind removing Saddam.

When a people are poor and oppressed, they're going to take it out on someone. And why not take it out on America? We're using the oil which generates the revenue that dictators use to build armies and weapons that are used to keep their people locked down. You want to know why there are political uprisings in Iran? The answer is simple: The population base has grown to the point that the oil revenue is no longer sufficient to keep the people in check.

GWB was looking out 20, 30 or 50 years in his actions. The Iraqi people will forever remember who freed them from dictatorship.

And it set the stage for popular uprisings throughout the region. We don't know how those will turn out (and likely, it will be different for different countries). But SOME of those countries will end up being better places to live, and the freeing of Iraqis was instrumental in making this happen.

Al, > Pray tell, how did iraq prevent further acts of terror against america?

By making it the front line in the war against Islamic extremism and democratizing a nation that is in the heart of the problem area.

You could argue that we didn't need to go into Iraq, that Afghanistan would have sufficed, and I would agree. But we're there now and we chose to be there, so we might as well make the best of it.

> LOL...I wonder if a dem with the same record would get a lollipop like "mediocre" from you...

You mean like Obama? Absolutely.
