larry,

I don't think you're comparing apples to apples with your mention of idtc. I could say that LUCENT has been much stronger than VOCLF recently because they also are involved in IP telephony. The difference is that voclf is more a pure play of internet telephony than you're idtc and lucent which is in everything related to the communications industry. IDTC has been strong also because the telecommunications industry has been a hot sector. For vocaltec thread users here is the description of idtc's business.

IDTC is a telecommunications company which offers a broad range of integrated long-distance telephone and internet access services. For the fiscal year ended 7/97, revenues rose from $57.7 million to $135.2 million. Net loss fell 75% to $3.8 million. Revenues reflect increased rebilled long distance telephone minutes due to addition of wholesale carries clients and increased international call reorigination customers. Lower loss was partially offset by an increase in
underlying carrier costs. They have negotiated an agreement to receive income derived from a master patent covering pre-paid calling cards throughout Europe. Under the agreement, the Company is entitled to receive royalties from all companies selling pre-paid calling
cards in Europe who take a license under the patent or against which the patent is successfully enforced.

So, they are a very diversified communications company as opposed to voclf which is very focused on one segment of the internet and that is voice over the internet. I don't think a comparison is very fair when looking at the different aspects of their businesses.
