"The Bible..
is a series of stories..

originally..an oral tradition..
that has been edited by..
'wise men'
for reasons..not immediately clear..
"

Much of the original was so ridiculous and primitive that it was simply "spirited" out! Sentence and word changes have continued for 500 years but there is no recovery from the fact that it is primitive and pre-scientific mythology and nonsense!

How can humans still believe that "Jonah" lived in a fish belly!? That the sun STOPPED so Joshua could KILL KILL KILL!

I don't know. Do you?

<originally..an oral tradition..>

As is abundantly clear by the "gospels"... in which Jesus CLEARLY recontextualized the black and white "commandments". Stories add context. Stories IN PERSON (as opposed to written words) contain, by definitioni, much more truth than something subsequently written down.

This basic truth, observable at any time and place, seems to be lost on the "bible literalists" somehow. They claim to not know what you're talking about althoug endless examples can easily be given.

<that has been edited by..
'wise men'

The Bible is CLEARLY, by ANY account, including that of the Catholic Church a work that has changed over time, and written down by PEOPLE. How this can be lost information to the literalist is quite astounding.

Actually we don't know the Bible was preceded by an oral tradition or that it was edited. Those are plausible for parts of the OT, but its too ancient to know for sure.
