I don't totally agree with this.

IMO some elements of government (mostly on the left) are actively trying to expand the number of people whose financial well being is almost totally dependent on government in order to consolidate and expand their own power. The more that are financially ruined and dependent on government, the more that will vote for those that claim to being trying to protect and expand their benefits.

If my job was gutted from the country via horrid economic policy, my savings raped pillaged via Fed Reserve intervention on interest rates and the money supply (inflation),etc... and I had hungry kids and no shelter, I'd vote the same retards that put me in that position too if they promised me a quick meal etc... because it's either that or violence.

Of course what we really need is revolution and violence because the population is too stupid to make a democracy work, but that's another story.
