Because Syria is directly and indirectly tied to Iran, China, and Russia. This Libyan caper may be testing the waters following the successful Egypt revolt? Regardless, such an intervention is a very ominous precedent; it should make us all wonder, which nation might be next? Could these "popular" actions be part of an opportunistic, but coordinated military efforts on behalf of the One World Government folks? Anyone who really sees Egypt or Libya as future friendly, pro-west Islamic nations, must be delusional
