A "good" earnings disappointment!

Yes, they came in about a million less than Red Chip and others expected. But the explanaiton is very gratifying.

A cost benefit analysis is in order. Jenkins took 15 engineers off billable projects to work on the y2k product. That's about $66,000 in lost billables per engineer (1 mil divided by 15). I figure that is about 3 months worth of billables per engineer.

THat's the cost. But the benefits? 1.5 million in pure CD sales in a month, with another 2 million expected in the next thirty days. Projecting out another month, lets say that is 6 million in CD sales over 3 months, compared to making a million in billables. Lose a million to make 6 million? FOr those odds, I'd love to lose a million a day! <g>
