Today was the first day of the stalemate in the Libyan war. The freedom fighters will find it difficult to capture Sirte and then proceed to Tripoli. Not good news that Gaddafi armed the civilians in Sirte and Tripoli.

I like Obama's timing in handing over military control to NATO and focussing this country's efforts on the diplomatic front.

Just got off a tele town hall meeting with my Congressman Pete Stark. As expected, he is against our involvement in Libya and is not happy that O did not consult with Congress. Said he is part of a team of Democrats who is going to meet with Obama over lunch to discuss the issue of Congress consultation. He has been informed by the WH that O wants some Defence allocations in the current budget cut and the funds saved be reallocated to meet the Libyan war costs. If that is the case, then he is playing it well against the Republicans by holding their feet to the fire.

Fun to wait and see what happens.

Koan - I am interested in knowing about Alaskas program that shares revenue with the residents. How is it done? ie A certain % of oil revenue / by # of state residents?

Approx how much did each resident get last year - Is the figure somewhat consistant or is it highly variabl?

Is this the answer to my queries?

Thanks

great speech by Obama

Not everyone agrees - Here are comments from his potential competition. Critical as one would expect.
