(NEWSER) – Don't mess with a wound-up teen obsessed with a car. A Florida high school honors student accepted into Ivy League schools pistol-whipped her mom when the mother refused to sign a car loan for her, according to cops. Rachel Hachero, 17, called her mom from a Fort Myers car dealership and ordered her to come to sign a loan. When her mom refused, Rachel threatened to kill her, the mother told investigators. Later, when the teen arrived home she struck her mother with a stolen pistol, then held it to her head to force her back to the dealership, where the mom promptly signed the loan, said police.

Rachel then sped off in her new used black Nissan 350Z. The mother is refusing to press charges because she doesn't want to jeopardize her daughter's college acceptances and scholarships. But authorities are weighing several charges, including aggravated assault with intent to commit a felony, reports MSNBC.
