Pittsburgh has already made a great transformation, When I grew up it was an industrial town with tons of steel mills and fab shops.

After the steel industry was decimated and moved south to non union locations the city was not well. That and Corp mergers sucked many of the corp headquarters from the city and good jobs with it. Employment was not good for many years.

The businesses, universities and govt has worked as a team to reinvent the city in tech, medical and services so it is a great place to live (except the weather).

The people are about as friendly there as you will find anywhere in the world. They have a kid mayor there that I hear is doing a decent job.

You would like it in the city. It elects democrats just about all of the time. God himself couldnt get elected as Mayor if he was a Republican.
