Bell Telephone Laboratories is now part of Alcatel-Lucent.

Lucent had previously spun off Avaya (now privately held) prior to it's merger with Alcatel.

Parts of Verizon are now owned by FairPoint Communications and Frontier Communications.

Mountain Bell became U.S. West which became Qwest, which is being acquired by CenturyLink.
