How big is your company?

I am no longer there. The company had about 3,000 PCs. I was responsible for a divisional network with about 500 PCs, most of them are now Gateways. Most or all other divisions now buy Gateways.

By taking the MS Office off the PCs and putting the licenses on the network, we saved tens of thousands of dollars on software. May have pused the bounds of the licensing agreements, but Microsoft allowed it.

Although we did have some bad components now and then, they never complained about returns, exchanged parts promptly (with a little coaxing).

I think Gateway is very customer focused. How many products do you own that came with a 3 year warranty, and unlimited lifetime support on a toll free line. Their tech support people even helped me setup my first Netware server on a Gateway box. Antone else would have charged $$$, if they would have helped me at all.

Hope I'm not beginning to sound like steve. I was lucky enough to have a nice sized network, and to do the purchasing for it. I never built Compaq, nor have I told HP how to run their business.
