Bob, but I expect more from a chemical engineer, who knows what asymptotes are. Now give me one energy source as good as oil.
As a chemical engineer, you know something about second law of thermodynamics and perhaps even exergy. The point is, as I try to remind you and the board that nothing has come to rival oil in its characteristics to power this civilization. As it declines, we are toast. But I am will not try to predict over what time span. But what I do know is that energy is the true capital and the printed money and the loans it creates are based on ever large supply of energy. Once energy becomes scarce, there will not be enough capital (energy, raw materials, and human) to invest in the energy sources you dream about.
