Al Mahdi, whatever fraud they pick, will be certain to have a monopoly on Middle East oil. Such a fraud could generate enormous power from that alone, mostly over Europe.

Exactly. OPEC is set to enjoy a trillion-dollar year in oil export revenues this year. [1]

Look for that figure to grow as the price of oil skyrockets.
