Engineers, physicists, and mathematicians are logically minded by nature. Most of the scientists I have known have been conservative, but I don't know how much being in a conservative state influenced the people I have known. An amusing joke I have heard more than once though was if you don't want to serve jury duty, just tell them you're an engineer. :)
