Dee Jay, agree. Eric B. must have known about the risk before the merger. In a war (business or otherwise) there's no angel.

Now, that it's in a deadlock, you need a win-win situation in order to reach 56k standards. I'd like to hear people's thoughts on this. Thanks.

Simonds.

USR TC vs Ascend Max - One ISP's views:
"We evaluated both a USR total control chassis and a MAX4000 chassis nearly a year ago. We found USR's technical support to be pretty much useless when we told them that we wanted to hook an existing kerberos database forpassword authentication. Their radius implementation was never given out in source form so there was no way to make a modification.

Where in the case of Ascend, a sales engineer showed up on our doorstep and FTPed the source files over and worked with us to get everything set up right then and there.

The Total Control chassis was sent back and more Maxen were ordered. We have been *very* happy with the maxen and with Ascend's technical support.

I was so impressed I went out and invested heavily in Ascend by purchasing a large amount of stock. I watched the stock's value go all the way up to 70. Life was good.

Since I have such a large position in Ascend, my portfolio has suffered of late. After careful examination and a great deal of number crunching, I feel I have determined the mindset of the market place regarding Ascend's stock and why it has dropped off in value recently.

To see the result of my analysis, please see: ;-)

Seriously, though...

I believe in Ascend and I firmly believe that the value of their stock
will soon be more representative of the market leader that they are.
