It really is a ton of space for a personal residence. I know a lot of wealthy Republicans who live in much smaller spaces, even with a sizable family still at home.

I wonder whether Congress shouldn't take a look at this and just impose a "square footage" tax on people with large homes. We need to discourage this kind of conspicuous consumption when there are tons of needy people who could benefit from the wealth.

Why should such wealth be concentrated in the top 1 or 2% of the country's population? We need to "spread the wealth around" a little.

I would think an annual tax amounting to about $10 per square foot over 2,500 ought to be about right. I don't think Al should mind paying an additional 25K/year to help out his less fortunate countrymen. He won't notice it.
