getgo: thanks for the excellent news about the stock repurchase. So much for my "deduction" that they bought back at 22 in Oct.'97! I wonder why they did not announce the repurchase in the Q3 release. Seems sloppy. (Unless LSI considered this not "significant".). (I relied on the lack of buyback info. in the Q3 release and the San Jose Mercury News to assume that they bought back 500,000 shares in Oct. I stand corrected.)

Looks like LSI is in a very difficult situation predicting not only its customers' own demands but also their their own stock price. Must be the high beta thing. (Last year at one point they bought at 27 - 3 months or so too soon. Price later dropped to 17. We're not the only ones who do not have a clue at what value to place on LSI's stock!) Anyway this does mean they did buy 100,000 between Oct. 1,'97 and Oct.28,'97. At what price, I'm not even going to guess - take your pick!

Getgo: did they mention anything about the repricing of options? Also I have yet to see any insider selling. Have you? These things should all help us evaluate a "fair" price. Right now I think "fair" is $24.

Analyst Recs are now: 2 str. buy; 3 buy; 13 hold. Does anyone know if these are lower than July '96?
