We are still the most creative country in the world. We are the mightiest military machine ever created. We have the finest college level and graduate study institutions in the world. arwu.org Note that we have 8 of the top ten universities and 17 of the top 20. And, some foreign schools, such as Oxford, are only rated highly because Bill Clinton went there. <VBG> We have fallen behind in primary and high school studies, but the top kids who come out of the schools (mainly in honors classes or programs) are the best of the best. So what if many are Asian-Americans, they are Americans? We have so much of the high tech and medical tech inventiveness that other countries are dwarfed by comparison. In military technology, we are miles in the lead. Most of this is due to freedom and a huge middle class. The Teabaggers and Republicans are trying to kill off the middle class, and they are doing a pretty good job of it. Especially in the Midwest, which is trying its best to become a wasteland, like the South. Fortunately, we still have California (o.k, Oregon and Washington are also playing pretty well) and the East Coast mostly Northern, though there is something to be said for Virginia, North Carolina and even goofy Florida). Our freedom and ease of movement into the middle class is why so many brilliant foreign students remain here and become citizens. So, things are getting worse, but we're still the best.
