I have a friend who's trying to build out a concierge practice. For the moment, his practice is premised on the individual filing his own insurance claims. In other words, he doesn't accept insurance, only the cash retainer. So his patients are either self-pays (no insurance), or they file for themselves. There was a time in this country when everyone filed their own claims and hashed out that claim on their own personal time. It was also a time when medical costs were more in line with one's average income.
