I think, but am not sure, that Autism is genetic based. And it creates certain physical changes to the brain and/or its capabilities. This may or may not result in causing personality changes and/or psychological conditions that have at their core a biological basis. However, this is just my understanding of it based on general reading and may not be correct. I do find it fascinating that our brains can be apparently altered, genetically, to become, in effect, superb number machines. This was the basis of the sci-fi novel I recently read wherein an autistic descendent of Einstein had the capacity to understand "unified" theory in the way of a long equation that supplied the answer as to why there is order in the universe instead of chaos.
