We can only do what we can do and then let the chips fall where they may. All of these questions you raise only lead to inaction

When it comes to picking wars, inaction is better than clueless action. It appears that we are fighting against a bad guy on behalf of our sworn enemies.

It appears that the jihadi movement is a global phenomenon and that there is an international army of jihad. The same guys who beat up the Russians in Afghanistan will travel to Kosovo, and then to the West Bank, then to Iraq, and then back to Afghanistan. It appears that they are serious professional fighters, and are loosely but fairly well organized.

If we are fighting now on their side, that would be pretty idiotic. Yeah, inaction would have been preferable, to say the least
