why do lefties always call themselves non partisan or centrists. like the crowd on VFC they all think they are centrists but they are mostly hard core extreme lefties with a few just being extreme hard core lefties

I'm non-partisan because on some issues I agree with the right's point of view and on others I agree with the left's. I'm not idealogically driven (political idealogies) and try to let facts lead me to a personal viewpoint. I avoid reading editorials and look instead to data. As a result, I end up all over the map which is why I lay claim to being non-partisan. None of this means that I always end up right as far as my views of things go, it just means that I arrive at those views independently--or at least try to. It's not always easy to gather an accurate set of 'facts'. Everything seems to have a slant to it.
