It matters whether or not your chip makers are positioned for the mobile platforms. Intel's for example is expected (by some) to be a dying platform because they've been unsuccessful in penetrating the mobile markets. It may take a long time for them to fall apart, the argument goes, but their best days is behind them...arguably, it is different for the equipment makers because theirs should be application agnostic. But even then, it matters who the customers of your equipment makers are.
