Jeff, of course they're spies. I hope we aren't even trying to deny that. They're there to "monitor" weapons building. I have no doubt that some are military/CIA types. (I guess I wouldn't want a botanist or even a stock analyst doing that job.) Why is this a surprise to Saddam? Like he suddenly just discovered that over these last few years that those cameras and site visits were not tourist junkets? I guess the real question is what's going to happen to the bully this time?

Of cource they're spys, that's the official point of the whole UN team being there - to spy on Sadam's weapons factories.

And while we're on the subject, why in the hell are we fooling around with U2s over there? We've got to have multiple geosynchronous sats with real time feeds over that area, I would think.

Jeff I'm not meaning to sound rude, but who would think any different unless they're trying to fool themselves? I'd think it is a given who these inspectors are. Where in the world would you find properly trained personnel other than the military?

I'm sure at times a need for experts in a particular field are used, but the inspectors looking for evidence of weapons of mass destruction....don't come from the boy scouts. <GG>

The real spying is done by the undercover people who blend in...like the ones who were on the ground in Iraq to guide the F-117 bombs by aimming the lasers at the targets, and the ones looking for Saddamn.

So, what's yer point? Be he civilian, military, CIA or NSA, or any other DODo, we're inflicting ourselves on them whether they like it or not. If they don't like who we send, screw 'em.
