Long ago, when I was in Q, I researched TD SCDMA quite minutely. I ran into statements by Dr. Lee, its inventor, in which he acknowledged that it was based on CDMA and on QCOM's work.

I saved the links, but they have disappeared [how's that for an oxymoron?].

As I appreciate it (I could easily be wrong; a long time has passed since I have fooled with this stuff), TD SCDMA is not a 3G technology. Thus, it may already be antiquated.
