Bill, How much US traffic transits the canal vs Europe? I repeat - 'not in our strategic interest'. Let the socialists who use the canal worry about it. Without the canal operating the Egyptians have nothing. They are a society that requires a patron and this is post-cold war. We should rethink any support for tyrants of any ilk. None of the our bastard vs. their bastard stuff. The Castro's, Mubaraks, Gadaffi's and Assad's of the world depended on using us (US and Soviets) against each other. John
