The only reason Amazon and AT&T have to implement some sort of workaround is because Google has not simply allowed the Amazon App Store to be a downloadable app from the official Android Market. Doesn't that seem suspicious to you? Google will will allow anything else (porn, malware, all sorts of crash-prone crap), yet somehow, the Amazon App Store doesn't meet their high bar for quality? Maybe there's a competitive reason? Point is, Google will be fascists when it suits them to do so.
