Compromise is a wonderful thing if both parties have honest objectives. If your wife wants to go out tonight and you want to stay home, how do you compromise? Do you go sit in the car in the driveway? That's about what compromise did to the Affordable Care Act. It's progress in the sense that the car won't go back in the garage... that is, certain popular provisions like the ban on denial of coverage for pre-existing conditions are here to stay, but... the Republicans exacted so much in the compromise that the end result is like going out as far as the driveway. Wheeee!
