He said the way to get ahead is "don't rock the boat." We had a LT. as a maintenance officer who used to go at it tooth and nail over operations with our CO who was a CDR. When he entered the window for orders everyone thought he was going to get screwed..... Turned out that the CDR came up to him and said basically, tell me what you want to do and I'll do whatever I can to get you there.... Surprised the hell out of him and his peers.... Turned out the CDR appreciated well thought out feedback.....
