Your whole corporate minder claim is either a case of your being dishonest, or totally deluded, I'm not sure which. Also note how often you support special benefits for corporations that I oppose. Bailing out GM, targeted tax breaks for movie studios, tax breaks and/or direct subsidies for "green energy", etc. How Twitter Extorted a Desperate City Twitter didn't extort anyone. They said they would leave if they didn't get certain benefits. That's not the use of or threat of force. Its not even threat of damage to the cities reputation through releasing embarrassing secrets (blackmail) Its no coercion, so its not extortion. Twitter has every right to move wherever its legal for them to go to. They also have a right to make the move (or not moving) conditional on the tax or regulatory environment they will face. San Francisco (and Brisbane, or any other jurisdiction they might move to), has every right to reject those conditions. Its no more extortion than your demanding a raise from your employer, or your employer demanding you take a pay cut is extortion. If the city doesn't want to pay the benefits they should just let Twitter go. I blame the local and state (and sometimes national) governments for this problem. If they where not in the habit of passing out subsidies and targeted tax breaks, companies would be less likely to ask for or expect them. If they didn't do all of that, they could lower rates and attract investment without special targeted breaks. As for Tepco, maybe they have done something horribly wrong, maybe not. Your link doesn't lay out the case that they have. It talks about difficult conditions in Minamisoma, but that isn't the same thing.
