Went to the NCAA Semifinal Hockey tournament in St. Paul yesterday. UM Duluth hung on to beat Notre Dame 4 - 3.

Gov Dayton was supposed to start the game by announcing “LET’S PLAY HOCKEY!”. But his mike was dead. All we saw on the jumbo screen was his goofy eyes in his big face scanning nervously back and forth.

Poor guy.

Then between periods they interviewed him and he told this horrendous story about how his throat was slashed by a skate and how close to death he came when he was goalie during a Princeton game. Said it ruined his hockey career and his grades went down afterwords.

This is the inspiring story he chooses to tell elite college athletes and a national ESPN audience. I tell you Dayton is the weirdest guy I have ever witnessed in politics bar none. Which makes him interesting to watch in a perverse way.

Championship game Saturday afternoon - Duluth vs Michigan. Go Dogs!
