4/15/11 Contest Update
Although the broad market did little for the week, biotechs bulled ahead. At Friday’s close, the Nasdaq Biotech Index was up 12.34% YTD (vs. up 9.49% YTD a week ago) and the Contest median was up 8.49% YTD (vs. up 6.76% YTD a week ago). The Nasdaq Composite Index was up 4.21% YTD (vs. up 4.81% YTD a week ago).
MCBIO’s portfolio (up 35.68% YTD) remained in the lead, with ROCKY’s portfolio (up 34.20% YTD) and RRGE’s portfolio (up 28.10% YTD) holding on to the No. 2 & No. 3 spots.
At Friday's close, an impressive 31 of the 38 Contest portfolios were in the black with 12 of the 38 beating the NBI.
Below is the Top Ten list. Also below are the Top 5 & Bottom 5 Stocks ranked by % Gained and % Lost for the week (foreign stock prices are not converted to US$ in these two tables).
Portfolio adjustments:
1) GENZ buyout by Sanofi was finalized. I’ll use $74 for the buyout price and will reallocate the proceeds using the 4/15 closing prices (GENZ was only in TECHNET’s portfolio). For the time being, I’ll hold off on the contingent value rights.
2) CLDA buyout by Forest was finalized. I’ll use $30 for the buyout price and will reallocate the proceeds using the 4/15 closing prices (CLDA was only in TECHPER’s portfolio). For the time being, I’ll hold off on the contingent value rights.
Have a terrific weekend biotechies!
(All corrections, especially adjustments for splits, greatly appreciated.)
